It is important to get plant pots correct.
It is important to get plant pots correct.

In a previous article, we talked about complying a houseplant kit in which the importance of getting the pot right was discussed. This is such an important consideration as if you get the wrong pot size colour or shape, it can unbalance a plant. It can make the plant look too big or too small. The colours may clash with the plant itself, or the shape of the houseplant does not match the theme or shape of the container.

All this must be considered before buying a houseplant container. The plant pots also need to match the home environment as well, so it does not look out of place if that is the desired look. It can either contrast your home décor or it can have more subtle tones and blend in.

Remember most houseplants tend to be green leaves which will contrast well with red and golden containers, whilst blue containers will contrast with purple or red-leaved plants. This will ensure that the plants will become an attractive feature in people’s homes.

  1. You are absolutely right that people don’t think much about houseplant containers when they buy flowers until they get into the problem of what to do with flowers. It happened to me often. I like the EMSA 501871 Siena Nobile the most. It looks exquisite and would fit with other decors in my home.

For me the biggest advantage is the different sizes of the containers and the large number of colors. I live in a smaller house and I think the most suitable container is KitchenCraft Small Indoor Plant Pot, Decorative Little Bear Design, Ceramic, Gray / White.

The Size of 10 x 11.5 cm is all I need and the color I will choose is the one White because we also have white furniture and we want to put a white orchid here. Thanks again for this. Wish you all the best.

  5. Having a nice houseplant containers at home is what we should look into if we want to enhance the beauty of our home, even the plant itself. Of cause, choosing a houseplant container comes with lots of things to consider, like the color of the pot, does it fit the plant? And does it in turn radiate the beauty of our home? These are what we’re supposed to look into carefully and you’ve taken the time to make things more clearer.

I’ve not tried any of the houseplant container you’ve listed but I think I’ve found Korad Flower Indoor Plant Pot to be a nice fit for my houseplant. I like it because it is lightweight, the copper color makes it looks very attractive, and also, drainage holes are present. I don’t have to make one after purchase.

    Thank you for this article.

  6. Hello Antonio!

You have indeed covered a good list of pots for houseplants. I find three of them as particularly beautiful: the Korad Flower, the Emsa 501871 Siena, and in my opinion the nicest one of them is the Hum Flowerpots Blue Bird! As they say, you saved the best for last :). If I were in the situation to choose some pots from your list, I would go for these 3 models!

    Best regards, Peter

  7. Thank you very much for giving suggestions about the best houseplant containers. I personally like retro looks, so Ivyline Menza will be my priority choice here. Although, the lack of drainage holes make me think twice. Is it worth to buy and have my own drill just for holing the container once (or twice) in a lifetime? Thanks

    1. Hi Alblue

Thank you for your comment. Drills are very useful around the house and have multiple uses. If you are serious in container gardening then the drill will become your best friend, as you will be constantly creating drilling holes as well as the other tasks you will be doing in the garden. From attaching hanging basket brackets to your own creations. They have so many uses and therefore I will always recommend you have a drill with a good range of drill bits. It is not expensive as you think.

I think your choice is excellent.

      Kind Regards

      Antonio
